We are so happy we chose this beautiful property, Rocky Overlook, for our stay in Georgetown and wish we had known about it all the years we visited family here! Georgetown is our extended family hub so we visit here often and usually stay in a hotel in Round Rock. This time there was a wedding and we needed to be closer so we tried Home Away. This property is absolutely beautiful and private and comfortable and clean. Sheron and Dan are the nicest couple -we felt like we had known them forever. I can’t say enough about the house- has everything you could need, it is very unique and beautiful, the property is so pretty and conducive to all kinds of outdoor activities. It is quiet and private because it’s outside of town, but once we drove there the first time, it was very easy to get to town in minutes! We absolute felt at home from the moment of our arrival. I recommend this property wholeheartedly and without reservation! And quite honestly, we are super picky.

So much to say! The property was gorgeous, the house, Rocky Overlook, so unique and interesting. We loved reading about the history of the place. The furnishings were terrific and comfortable and so interesting. And the views out the windows…stunning. We did puzzles, cooked on the grill, hiked down to the river, watched movies, went into town, you name it. Great place and super nice owners, from the music on the radio when we came in, to the homemade muffins, to the tour offer, couldn’t have asked to feel more at home. We spent time on the river behind the property (bring your tubes), Blue Hole, downtown Georgetown for music on the square and wine and shopping, kayaking and paddle boarding on Lake Georgetown, just about anything you could want. We would definitely come back to Scurlock Ranch!

Staying at Indian Bluff was a welcome get-away with its many features. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to cook. All the bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. We loved sitting on the back patio to enjoy the country setting and star gazing. We enjoyed relaxing on the property, walking along the San Gabriel River where the view was calming. We will really miss that! The cows, goats, horses, and birds on the property were a delight to watch. So many photo opportunities! We enjoyed the shopping and eating in downtown Georgetown which was just minutes away. Dan and Sheron, thank you both for being so helpful and generous on our stay. We enjoyed the tour of your property – a really fun ride! We would highly recommend Scurlock Farms!

My friends and I enjoyed getting away from the big city at Indian Bluff. Great for nature lovers, but still close enough to all the major attractions of the Austin area. The property is exactly as advertised and the owners could not have been nicer people. We will definitely try to come back.

The Palette Pad is a cozy little cottage with all the comforts of home. Fresh made muffins meet you at the door upon entering. Sheron is definitely a host who knows what welcome means. She went beyond to make sure my stay was perfect. The cottage was very clean and is equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. It is about 6 miles to the square in Georgetown where shopping, restaurants, and bars are. Very quaint … I had the perfect stay and I will definitely be back.
We had a great family gathering at Rocky Overlook ranging in age from 88 years to 1 year! It worked well for all ages, plenty of room and lots of opportunities for activities. Property owners provided gracious welcome and hospitality. The history and beautiful artwork added to the overall beautiful setting. We look forward to returning!

Indian Bluff was a great place for our family to vacation at. The house was perfect for 2 couples and one family of four. We had two youngsters with us, 1 and 4 years, and they could not have had more of a blast. We were the only group at the river each day, so when the days started to cool off, we’d go down to the river and either hang out on the limestone banks or cool off in the water. It was secluded but not too far from Georgetown to run into town and get anything we needed. We went to Inner Space Caverns one day. It was a perfect vacation for our family! Sheron was so hospitable. We were so lucky to book this stay!
My husband and I absolutely enjoyed our stay in The Palette Pad, especially being able to take along our two little dogs. They loved exploring the country and visiting the goats. We also loved Georgetown and hiking around the lake. The cabin is beyond stocked and Sheron’s muffins were a fabulous treat! Thanks again for sharing this charmer.

The Scurlocks have a beautiful country home, Indian Bluff, in central Texas, near Georgetown and major highways, but far enough out to feel you are in the real country. House is nicely appointed with all our needs met. Sheron was a great host and we loved the almond/poppyseed muffins. It was a nice retreat for our family celebration.

We had a wonderful time at Rocky Overlook over Labor Day weekend. There is plenty of room outside to spread out, and many great amenities that the property has to offer. I was unaware that this was an artist’s home who had sold paintings to LBJ! Too cool. Beautiful artwork inside as well. Also Sheron’s muffins were excellent and a great treat for everyone. Thanks so much for your hospitality.
Absolutely an amazing time in Rocky Overlook. Just what the family needed before school starts. Reminds me of going to visit my childhood home with all its comforts. We will be back!”Emily G., Dallas area”We chose Rocky Overlook at Scurlock Farms because we wanted a quiet and peaceful area for the weekend. Sheron was super sweet, she gave us a tour of the farm plus let us hang out with the animals which was so much fun. She spoiled us with fruit and homemade muffins that were so good! The home was clean and cozy, and it had everything that we needed for our stay. I highly recommend staying here if your looking for a nice and quiet place with lots of things to see and do so close by. Thank you so much for everything Sheron!

What a lovely home and property! I stayed for two nights, along with 6 family members, and we had the best time at Rocky Overlook. We were far enough from city pollution to see stars at night, yet a convenient and quick drive to get any groceries or supplies. Sheron keeps a well-maintained, clean, and amenity filled home. Never a shortage of clean, soft, towels or linens. The kitchen was stocked with lots of choices for cookware and dishes. She made herself available to our every question and need, but gave considerate space as well. She even delivered the most delicious home-made muffins and fresh fruit! The house was spacious, yet kitschy and cozy; but the outdoor areas were the real draw! This property has 2 spacious patios, with ample seating and lighting for enjoying the natural beauty surrounding you.
Serene and secluded river access is a 5 minute walk, through a well-mowed field, and down a slight inclined path. No one in our group had much trouble with the trek, though it may prove a bit more difficult for older or disabled guests. The large rock formations by the river provide plenty of room for spreading out and exploring, though shade is scarce in that area- so stock up on sunscreen! Inner tubes proved to be a lot of fun, though there are some parts where the water is shallow but still a bit swift! We felt very safe and comfortable overall! I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a quiet and nature-filled getaway. My only regret is not seeing more of the farm property! Sheron is a lovely hostess, and would make any guest feel attended to and welcome!

We were looking for a getaway that wasn't a two to three hour trip away from Round Rock. We found Scurlock Farms and decided to book our trip through Air BnB. Sheron called us that day and let us know that they had their own website where we could have booked for a lot cheaper. I canceled and booked directly through her! She saved us almost $100 (that's true customer service). We arrived at the beautiful Palette Pad, and made ourselves at home. It was very cozy and we lit a fire in the fireplace to enjoy the ambiance as we read up on the history of the house. Sheron called and came down to bring us some necessities (coffee and matches) , she gave us a rundown of the entire place and gave us tips for finding arrowheads (which we actually found one!). The San Gabriel is a short walk through the pecan orchard and it was incredibly peaceful to sit and watch the river go by. Scurlock Farms also has a small roadside stand where the sell delectable chocolate covered pecans, jams and salsas. They had run out of fresh eggs, but Sheron said she would grab what the chickens had laid and brought them by the Palette Pad. I can't not say enough about the wonderful hospitality of the Scurlock's and how beautiful the farm is just 30 min outside of town. I would absolutely stay here again and plan on it in the near future!
We stayed at the Rocky overlook for New Years eve vacation, the house was spotless, each couple had their own room and bathroom in a private setting. We absolutely loved the fireplace, it made the whole house warm and cozy. We went down the river and spotted so many fossils in the rocks. The best part was holding the baby goats, and feeding the horses apples. Sharon and her husband were unbelievably wonderful and very welcoming. I definitely recommend Scurlock Farms for families or a romantic getaway. The muffins were yummy.
This place is a great, cozy, nice get away! It’s dog friendly and located really close to the river, which we went to and enjoyed each day! The scenery is beautiful and relaxing!
Very clean, peaceful and private setting, Sheron and Dan are friendly and accommodating hosts. The ranch is huge and great for walking on the property or along the river. Easy access to Georgetown and Austin.
