At Scurlock Farms we offer our guests a boutique farm stay.  NOT boutique as in “fancy schmancy.” Boutique as being in a special, quality-centric niche.  We are local, we are family-operated, and we specialize in making our guests’ stays truly exceptional.  We want you to know, whether you are here for a farm stay, a retreat, a romantic getaway, work stay, vacation, etc., that we do this for a living and we take great pride in our craft.

What can I expect if I stay at Scurlock Farms?

You can expect a boutique experience – not just a bed in a box along the interstate!  Your accommodations will be spotlessly clean and beautifully furnished.  Some guests just want to stay on the farm and do things on their own, and that is perfectly okay.  Those coming from the cities LOVE the peace and quiet.  Guests from Houston departed this morning.  they said as they lay in bed the first night, they commented to each other how quiet it was – no sirens, traffic noise, etc.  And, they actually heard hoot owls after dark!

For those guests that would like to interact with the owners more, free tours of the farm are available.  Guests ride n in a Polaris, a 6-seater off road vehicle as Sheron tells them about the farm.  They are shown where the feed is and how to feed the animals; the river and the best fishing spots and places to find amazing fossils; and hiking areas about the farm.  Children are encouraged to gather eggs in the evening.

Educational Tours

The tours are educational in a fun way as I tell them about some funny bird and animal habits, we discuss the kind of animals we have and their purpose, and they learn about edible plants about the farm.  The tours are geared to the guest’s interest levels.  Many tell me the tours are the best part of their stay.

Guests young and old are invited to enjoy rides in the large cabbed tractors during hay season.  They can ride in the jump seat in air conditioned comfort as the hay is raked and baled.  A guest last week was fascinated with the process and said getting to ride in the tractor while square bales were made was worth the trip.
