An Afternoon Out in Georgetown, TX

August 15, 2018 by Sheron Scurlock

What to do, What to do on an Afternoon Outing to Georgetown?!

When you visit Georgetown, be sure and save a few hours to stroll about ‘The Most Beautiful Town Square in Texas’ if you are looking for an afternoon outing in Georgetown TX.  Depending on the season and the day, you will find varied things to do.  The square is spectacular when the crepe myrtles lining the streets are in full bloom and when the Christmas lights make the square a fantasy land.

Are you an Art Lover?

Visit the Art Center at 816 S. Main Street.  See the murals painted on the sides of many of the downtown buildings.  Or, drop by the Visitor’s Center  at 107 W. 7th Street and pick up a brochure showing the location of the many wonderful sculptures around the square.

Find fun things to do at the Visitor Center

If you visit on Friday or Saturday, check out the free courthouse tours at 1:30, 2:30 or 3:30.  Many of our guests have taken the tour and really enjoyed it.

Visiting on Wednesday or Saturday?  Look around the Williamson County Museum.

If on a Thursday afternoon and you are in the mood for some fresh produce, visit the Georgetown Farmers Market by farmer George at Republic Square, beginning at 2:30.

You certainly won’t go hungry spending an afternoon or day around the square with the many dining options!  Wildfire, Gumbo’s, Roots Bistro, 600 Degrees Pizza, Laurie’s, Burger University are just some of the establishments you will have to choose from.

In the mood for something spicy?  Check out Micky V’s Hot Sauce Shop to try out some samples and pick up something to take home with you.

Finish up your afternoon with a visit to one of the local wineries located right on the square.  Grape Creek Winery at 101 W 7th or Georgetown Winery at 715 S. Main St.  Do a tasting and take a souvenir glass home with you.

Repeat destination

Pros:
Great Location on a family-owned Farm.
Owner was extremely friendly and courteous.
Beautiful stretch of river near location.
Peaceful and quite.
Dog friendly
Perfect size for 2 people and a dog.

Details,
Sheron Scurlock provided such a unique and enjoyable rental that we are looking forward to going back to. The location is relatively close to many fun attractions in south Texas. However, the farm itself is well worth the trip to visit. There is a beautiful stretch of the San Gabriel within short walking distance. Sheron provided an extensive tour of the property. We were able to feed and interact with some of the different live stock they have on the farm. Sheron also provided fresh baked muffins and fruit for our mornings. When we arrived home from our enjoyable stay we received a hand written note from Sheron in which she expressed her gratitude that we came to visit and even made references to things we did during our visit. Sheron and the property were so welcoming, courteous, and enjoyable. We have been to many neat rentals over our trips, and this is the first one we are planning to make a repeat visit to. It just takes one visit to feel like you're a part of the Scurlock family. One visit and you'll be hooked and wanting to come back.
