Dining Georgetown TX: 9 Local Spots Worth the Drive

October 9, 2026 by Web Master Leave a Comment

Dining in Georgetown, TX centers on the downtown Square and the blocks around it. Start with breakfast at Monument Cafe, book City Post Chophouse or Wildfire for dinner, and add 600 Degrees Pizzeria or a taco stop for casual meals. Most of the best options sit within a short walk of one another.

Key Takeaways

  • The best dining in Georgetown, TX clusters downtown, with steakhouses, pizza, tacos, wine bars, and cafes all within the Square area.
  • City Post Chophouse is a fine-dining steakhouse with dining-room reservations; its oyster bar accepts walk-ins.
  • Monument Cafe (500 South Austin Avenue) is the breakfast pick; Sweet Lemon Kitchen is the pastry and coffee pick.
  • Listed hours often differ between directories, so confirm with the restaurant’s own website or phone before you go.
  • Scurlock Farms, a 172-acre working farm stay near Georgetown, is about 30 minutes north of Austin and makes a quiet base for a food-focused weekend.
  • According to AirDNA, Georgetown short-term rentals average a $155 daily rate, so a farm stay plus dinners downtown is easy to budget.

Georgetown has outgrown its reputation as a pass-through stop on I-35. The Square still anchors the food scene, but good meals also turn up on 8th Street, South Austin Avenue, and out on Rivery Boulevard. Texas recorded $97.5 billion in direct travel spending in 2026, and a Texas tourism economic-impact table lists Georgetown total spending at $77 million in its latest year shown. Visitors are clearly eating here.

This guide is for couples planning a date night, families feeding mixed ages, and Austin residents who want a day trip that ends with a good table. Each pick below includes what to order, who it suits, and one honest caveat. Details come from restaurant-owned sites and local directories, and we flag anything you should verify.

We run Scurlock Farms, a family farm stay just outside town, so guests ask us where to eat constantly. This is the list we give them.

What Does Dining in Georgetown, TX Look Like in 2026?

Dining in Georgetown, TX is a walkable, mostly locally owned scene built around the historic Square, with American, Mexican, Italian, steakhouse, and Southwestern kitchens. The official Visit Georgetown dining page describes options from farm-to-table to grab-and-go, both on and off the Square.

Popular food types here include chicken and waffles at breakfast, oak-grilled steaks and game, wood-fired style pizza, scratch-made tacos, and Southern comfort plates. Many kitchens advertise local or seasonal sourcing, which fits a town surrounded by farmland. For a full directory, see the Visit Georgetown dining page.

Two practical notes before the list. First, restaurant hours change often, and Google, reservation sites, and city PDFs do not always agree. Second, the Square gets busy on weekend evenings, so a reservation helps wherever one is offered.

1. Where Should You Eat Breakfast in Georgetown? Monument Cafe

Monument Cafe is a 1940s-style diner at 500 South Austin Avenue, and it is the most dependable breakfast stop in Georgetown. It was featured on Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and cooks with locally grown ingredients, some from its own garden.

Order chicken and waffles or an omelette in the morning. The lunch side runs to burgers, salads, sandwiches, and soups. Check themonumentcafe.com for current hours and menu, since directories vary.

Best for: a slow weekend breakfast before a day on the river or the Square. Caveat: diner-style spots tend to fill on Saturday and Sunday mornings, so arrive early or expect a wait.

2. Where Can You Get Coffee and Pastries? Sweet Lemon Kitchen

Sweet Lemon Kitchen is a chef-driven bakery and cafe known for croissants, cinnamon rolls, and scones made with organic flour. Its eggs come from a farm less than 20 miles away, and the candied pecans, jam, and lemon curd are made in house.

It pours coffee from Austin-based Summer Moon Coffee and also serves sandwiches, salads, desserts, beer, and wine from area producers. A second location sits inside the Georgetown Public Library, which suits a quick coffee and pastry stop.

Dinner service has been limited to Friday and Saturday nights according to sweetlemonkitchen.com, so do not plan a weeknight dinner there without checking. Pastries sell through, so go in the morning.

3. Where Is the Best Steakhouse Dinner in Georgetown? City Post Chophouse

City Post Chophouse is Georgetown’s fine-dining steakhouse, set in the historic former post office at 113 E. Eighth Street. It has an oyster bar, a butcher shop, and a second-floor private-event space. Its listed price tier is $50 and over per person.

Expect quality cuts, seafood, shareable sides, and a long wine and cocktail list. The dining room takes reservations for lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch. The dining-room dress code is listed as “Texas formal,” while the oyster bar is more relaxed and accepts walk-ins with the full menu.

That walk-in oyster bar is the move when the main room is booked. Hours differ by day and meal, so verify at citypostchop.house before you drive in. This is a celebration meal, and it is not cheap.

4. Where Should You Go for Date Night on the Square? Wildfire

Wildfire is a family and locally owned restaurant on the historic Square, known for oak-grilled meats, game, and seafood. The menu highlights racks of lamb, elk tenderloin, ostrich fan filets, and steaks. The city dining guide lists it at 812 S. Austin Avenue, (512) 869-3473.

Choose it when you want a game-forward menu you will not find at a chain. The restaurant’s own site, wildfiretexas.com, covers hours and reservations. Because the menu leans toward rich meats, vegetarians should look at the pizza or Southwestern picks below.

Weekend dinner is the busiest window, so reserve ahead. Walk the Square afterward, or catch a show at the Georgetown Palace Theatre if the schedule lines up.

5. Where Should You Book an Upscale Dinner Reservation? Georgie’s

Georgie’s Restaurant is an upscale downtown dinner option with an online reservation system. Book through georgiesgtx.com, which also lists current hours.

It works as the alternative to City Post when the larger steakhouse is full or when you prefer a smaller, quieter dinner. We have not verified its menu or prices, so read the current menu on their site before booking.

6. What Are the Best Mexican Restaurants in Georgetown, TX?

The best Mexican and Tex-Mex dining in Georgetown, TX includes El Monumento at 205 West 2nd Street, Mikey V’s Tacos On The Square and Hot Sauce Shop, and the Southwestern menu at Blue Corn Harvest Bar & Grill. Each suits a different mood, from quick tacos to a sit-down plate.

Mikey V’s is known for scratch-made tacos and signature sauces right by the Square, which makes it the fastest stop when you’re hungry after walking. El Monumento is the traditional sit-down Mexican option. Blue Corn Harvest, at 212 W 7th St. 105th, mixes comfort food with Texas flavors: macaroni and cheese, meatloaf, pork taquitos, and pulled pork enchiladas, using local farm products where possible.

My pick for a first-timer is Mikey V’s for lunch and Blue Corn Harvest for dinner. Menus and hours change, so confirm before heading out.

7. Where Can You Get Pizza and Beer? 600 Degrees Pizzeria

600 Degrees Pizzeria is a casual downtown pizza spot at 124 E 8th St with 25 distinct 14-inch pizzas. It also pours more than 30 beers on tap and has a shady outdoor area beside a historic building on the edge of downtown.

Pizzas range from plain cheese to heavily topped, with meaty and vegan versions. That makes it the easiest group answer when one person eats vegetarian and another wants pepperoni. See the menu at 600 Degrees Pizzeria.

Sit on the patio in spring or fall. In midsummer afternoons, the indoor tables are the more comfortable choice.

8. Where Can You Find Southern Comfort and Scratch Cooking? Goodfolks and 2020 Market

Goodfolks and 2020 Market Scratch Kitchen & Bar are two local sit-down options for Southern comfort food and scratch cooking. Goodfolks carries a 4.2 out of 5 rating and 2020 Market a 4.5 out of 5 in the business listings reviewed for this guide.

Goodfolks bills itself as a Southern comfort kitchen; see Goodfolks for its menu. 2020 Market, at 2020 Market Scratch Kitchen & Bar, pairs a scratch kitchen with a bar program. Both suit families and small groups who want a full meal without steakhouse pricing. We have not verified their prices, so check the menus first.

Hard Count Kitchen & Cocktails at 1500 Rivery Blvd 2105th is the go-to away from the Square. Local directories describe an upscale but welcoming vibe, and its phone is (512) 688-3530.

9. Where Are the Best Patios and Wine Bars in Georgetown?

Georgetown’s best patio dining includes the backyard of The Golden Rule, shaded by a towering oak, and the side patio at 600 Degrees Pizzeria. Kork Wine Bar, at 815 S. Main Street, Suite 101, adds wine, charcuterie boards, salads, and pizza.

The Golden Rule serves fried Texas Gulf shrimp and sweet-glazed brussels sprouts alongside an extensive cocktail and whiskey list. Cooler months make patio dining far more pleasant. For lighter, vegetarian-friendly food and a deep tea list, try Nancy’s Sky Garden. Kork’s wine focus is detailed at Kork Wine Bar.

Closing times vary, so confirm if you plan an after-theater drink.

How Do Georgetown Restaurants Compare by Meal, Cuisine, and Location?

The comparison below groups the picks in this guide by best meal, cuisine, and address, using restaurant-owned sources and city dining directories. Prices are shown only where a source lists them. Everywhere else, confirm current menus directly.

Restaurant Best for Cuisine Address (as listed) Reservations
Monument Cafe Breakfast and lunch Diner, American 500 South Austin Avenue Check restaurant
Sweet Lemon Kitchen Pastries and coffee Bakery, cafe Also inside Georgetown Public Library Check restaurant
City Post Chophouse Special-occasion dinner Steak, seafood, oysters 113 E. Eighth Street Yes for dining room; oyster bar walk-in
Wildfire Date night, game meats Oak-grilled meats, seafood 812 S. Austin Avenue Per restaurant site
Blue Corn Harvest Comfort dinner Southwestern 212 W 7th St. 105th Check restaurant
600 Degrees Pizzeria Groups, casual dinner Pizza 124 E 8th St Check restaurant
El Monumento Mexican sit-down meal Mexican 205 West 2nd St. Check restaurant
Kork Wine Bar Wine and small plates Wine, charcuterie, pizza 815 S. Main Street, Suite 101 Check restaurant
Hard Count Kitchen & Cocktails Dinner away from the Square American, cocktails 1500 Rivery Blvd 2105th Check restaurant

City Post is the only listing here with a published price tier ($50 and over per person). Treat everything else as menu-dependent.

How Do You Handle Parking, Reservations, and Verified Hours?

Planning a meal here comes down to three habits: arrive early on weekends, reserve where a restaurant accepts bookings, and verify hours on the restaurant’s own site. Directories, city PDFs, and delivery pages sometimes disagree on opening times.

First, park once and walk. The Square, 8th Street, and 7th Street picks sit close together, so you rarely need to move the car between a drink and dinner. Rivery Boulevard spots such as Hard Count are a separate drive. Second, reserve City Post’s dining room and any weekend dinner you care about, and keep the oyster bar as your walk-in fallback. Third, call or check the website the same day, especially for Sweet Lemon Kitchen’s limited dinner nights.

We have no verified data on street parking rules or time limits around the Square, so read the signage when you arrive.

What About Kids, Vegetarians, and Dietary Needs?

Kid-friendly and dietary-flexible dining in Georgetown is easiest at 600 Degrees Pizzeria, Monument Cafe, Nancy’s Sky Garden, and Goodfolks. Visit Georgetown notes that menus range from kid-friendly to more grown-up, so families have options without leaving the Square area.

Pizza with vegan versions suits mixed groups. Nancy’s Sky Garden is listed for vegetarian-friendly food and teas. Steakhouses and game-heavy menus such as Wildfire and City Post are harder for vegetarians, so call ahead about modifications. Directories give little consistent accessibility or allergy information, so ask the restaurant directly.

Where Should You Stay for a Georgetown Food Weekend?

The best base for a Georgetown dining weekend is a quiet property close to the Square but away from traffic. The Palette Pad at Scurlock Farms is a 520 sq ft rock home for 2 guests, with 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, and a wall of windows over the San Gabriel River bottom. It sits on a 172-acre working farm about 30 minutes north of Austin.

The Palette Pad was once the studio of artist C. P. Montague, Sheron’s mother. It has a fireplace, fire pit, and BBQ grill, so you can pair a downtown dinner with a slow evening outside. According to AirDNA, Georgetown short-term rentals average a 59% occupancy rate, which is why booking early for spring weekends makes sense. Rates vary by season, so confirm pricing on the booking page.

Dogs are welcome off leash for a one-time $70 fee covering up to three pets; cats are not allowed because of family allergies. If you need more room for a family or group, look at Rocky Overlook, a 2,500 square foot home, and inquire directly about availability.

The Georgetown Downtown area is the nearest dining hub, and Georgetown also sits within easy reach of Austin. If you want a daytime activity before dinner, our guide to kayaking near Georgetown covers paddling spots, and Inner Space Cavern is another local option. Guests who book direct avoid booking fees, and $1 from every night booked goes to The Caring Place Food Pantry.

Where to Eat in Georgetown, TX: The Short Version

For dining in Georgetown, TX, pick Monument Cafe for breakfast, Mikey V’s or 600 Degrees for casual lunch and dinner, and City Post Chophouse or Wildfire for a special night. Reserve where possible and verify hours with each restaurant.

Whether you plan a quiet weekend for two or a trip built around river fishing and farm animals, Georgetown’s small-town Square and open Hill Country land make an easy escape from Austin, Dallas, or Houston. Repeat destination

Pros:
Great Location on a family-owned Farm.
Owner was extremely friendly and courteous.
Beautiful stretch of river near location.
Peaceful and quite.
Dog friendly
Perfect size for 2 people and a dog.

Details,
Sheron Scurlock provided such a unique and enjoyable rental that we are looking forward to going back to. The location is relatively close to many fun attractions in south Texas. However, the farm itself is well worth the trip to visit. There is a beautiful stretch of the San Gabriel within short walking distance. Sheron provided an extensive tour of the property. We were able to feed and interact with some of the different live stock they have on the farm. Sheron also provided fresh baked muffins and fruit for our mornings. When we arrived home from our enjoyable stay we received a hand written note from Sheron in which she expressed her gratitude that we came to visit and even made references to things we did during our visit. Sheron and the property were so welcoming, courteous, and enjoyable. We have been to many neat rentals over our trips, and this is the first one we are planning to make a repeat visit to. It just takes one visit to feel like you're a part of the Scurlock family. One visit and you'll be hooked and wanting to come back.
