Would you like to work from home in a rural cabin on 172 acres with river frontage?

The work scene changed drastically in 2020 due to Covid-19.  Many workers found themselves forccd to work from home due to mandates from their cities, counties, or states.  The results really surprised everyone!  It was found that production actually went up and many workers found they really liked it; they could work in comfortable clothing – pajamas even!  They saved a lot on meals, clothing and transportation costs.  Are you one of those workers?

How would you like to work from home in a rural cabin on 172 acres with river frontage along the beautiful San Gabriel River in the beautiful Texas Hill Country?  Every year The Palette Pad and Rocky Overlook on Scurlock Farms have been used by those wanting to work from home in a peaceful, serene environment.  We have had authors, illustrators for childrens’ book , artists, animal veterinarians, IT managers, and professors spend several weeks working while staying at Scurlock Farms.

Is there a work space?

Yes, there are two desks in Rocky Overlook – one in the kitchen and one in a bedroom.  The Palette Pad has an antique chest and the top drawer front drops down to provide a desk.  However, most guests use the dining table with the walls of windows so they can enjoy the outdoor scenery as they work.

High-speed Internet

The first question anyone working from home wants to know is, “Do you have good wi-fi?”  The answer is, “Yes!”  Friends own a high-speed Internet company and asked if they could put a tower in our top pasture.  In exchange for them putting the tower up, we get free high-speed internet for all of the homes on Scurlock Farms.

Bring Your Pets

You are welcome to bring your pets and let them enjoy the freedom to roam about the 172 acre working farm, going down to the San Gabriel River or interacting with animals when taking breaks from your  work.  We have found that pets enjoy the farm as much as their owners do, especially the river and being able to run off leash.

The Palette Pad is great for one person or a couple.  Rocky  Overlook is great for couples or families.
